It started with a friendship and a gap we couldn't ignore.
Vi came from over a decade in hospitality — bartending, managing restaurants, running projects — always in roles that were about making people feel taken care of. Jessica had been building her career as a lash artist and educator in Australia, mastering the craft from the inside out.
We were friends long before we were business partners, and we kept coming back to the same conversation: the lash industry lacked products that truly reflected where the best handcraft in this space actually comes from.
In 2021, Vi launched Mega Lash Academy from Iowa — toddler on her hip, co-founder on the other side of the world — because that's just how it happens when you believe in something enough. The business has since planted its roots in Tampa, Florida, but the scrappiness of that beginning never left us. Every product we carry is a reflection of the Vietnamese craftsmanship and work ethic we're proud to call our own.

Vi Smail
Vi doesn't come from the beauty world — and that's exactly what makes her perspective valuable. After 10+ years across restaurants, bars, and project management, she knows how to build operations that actually work and how to make every customer feel like the priority.
Vi handles the business side of Mega Lash Academy, making sure every order, every experience, and every interaction lives up to the standard we set for ourselves.
Jessica Cent
Jessica is the lash expert behind everything we carry. As a practicing lash artist and educator based in Australia, she tests, evaluates, and approves every product we bring to market — if it doesn't meet her standards, it doesn't ship.
Her background in education means she also cares deeply about whether our community is learning and growing, not just buying.
