What LASHCON 2026 Taught Us: The Hard Work, The People, and Why It Was All Worth It

What LASHCON 2026 Taught Us: The Hard Work, The People, and Why It Was All Worth It

28 sept 2026

This year was our first time sponsoring LASHCON, one of the biggest lash conferences in the country.

We're back from LASHCON.

The boxes are unpacked. The booth is gone. Our feet have finally stopped hurting.

And we're still trying to process everything that happened.

The first time we went to LASHCON, we were just attendees with a lanyard and a tote bag, walking the floor and wondering what it would feel like to be on the other side of one of those booths.

This year was our first time sponsoring LASHCON and having our own booth.

We went into it excited, nervous, slightly overwhelmed, and with a very long list of things we wanted to accomplish.

We came home exhausted, grateful, inspired, and with an even bigger list of things we learned.

And if there is one thing we can say after experiencing LASHCON from the other side of the booth, it is this:

You truly have no idea how much work goes into these events until you do one yourself.

What You See vs. What Happens Behind the Scenes

When you walk through a beauty convention, everything looks so polished.

Beautiful booths.

Products perfectly displayed.

Giveaways.

Photos.

Music.

People laughing and shopping.

But behind every booth is weeks, sometimes months, of preparation.

We started building for LASHCON back in April. That meant designing the booth, ordering furniture, creating signs, planning displays, organizing inventory, preparing promotions, planning a $1,000 giveaway, figuring out electricity, shipping supplies, packing hundreds of products, planning our engraving setup, making welcome gifts, creating forms, testing equipment, and thinking through a hundred tiny details that nobody attending the event would ever know about.

We scanned every single QR code by hand before anything went to print, because the thought of a room full of lash artists pointing their phones at a broken link kept us up at night.

And somehow, no matter how much you prepare, something always comes up.

There is always another box to pack.

Another problem to solve.

Another thing you suddenly realize you forgot.

Owning a business has taught us that you can plan everything perfectly and still have to improvise.

LASHCON reminded us of that about 100 times.

If you are in your own unglamorous season of building right now, you're not doing it wrong. That's just what building looks like.

Seeing Mega Lash at LASHCON Felt Different

Mega Lash Academy has been growing for five years.

It started in a basement, with late nights after bedtime. It survived a hurricane flood and a rebuild. It moved from Iowa to Tampa to Tempe. So when we saw that this year's LASHCON theme was Pivot and Thrive, we felt that one.

We've shipped thousands of orders.

We've launched products we're incredibly proud of.

We've talked to lash artists online every single day.

But standing inside our own booth at LASHCON felt completely different.

There was something special about watching people walk up to our booth, recognize our name, pick up our products, and say:

"I use your lashes."

"I've been ordering from you for years."

"I've been wanting to try these."

"I follow you on Instagram."

Those moments meant more than we expected.

Because when you run an online business, so much of what you see is numbers.

Orders.

Website sessions.

Conversion rates.

Followers.

Email subscribers.

Inventory counts.

But those numbers are real people.

LASHCON gave us the opportunity to meet some of those people face-to-face.

And suddenly a customer name we had seen on an order became a conversation, a hug, a laugh, or a story about their lash business.

That was easily one of our favorite parts of the entire weekend.

The Engraving Station Was One of Our Favorite Ideas

One of the experiences we were most excited about bringing to LASHCON was our custom tweezer engraving.

Attendees could bring the Mega Lash tweezer from their LASHCON welcome gift and have it personalized right at our booth.

We knew it would be fun.

We didn't realize how much we would love watching everyone choose their engraving and seeing their reaction when the finished tweezer came back.

Some chose their name.

Some chose their business name.

Some chose something fun.

And suddenly a tweezer became something that felt uniquely theirs.

Watching those reactions, we kept thinking about your clients.

The engraving didn't change how the tweezer works. But it turned a tool they already had into something that felt made for them.

Your clients notice the same kind of thing. The set matters, of course. But they also remember that you knew their usual curl, or had their lash map saved. That you checked on them after their first fill. That they didn't have to explain their sensitive eyes twice.

Those small details are often what turns a first-time client into a regular.

Launching Velo Fans in Person Was Completely Different

We have talked about Velo Fans online for months.

We have filmed videos.

Written product descriptions.

Created tutorials.

Answered questions.

Explained how they work.

But nothing compares to putting the product directly into another lash artist's hands.

At LASHCON, artists could actually see the fans, touch them, look at the bases, compare dimensions, and watch how easily they could be picked up.

We got immediate questions.

Immediate reactions.

Immediate feedback.

That type of feedback is priceless when you develop products.

Sometimes, as a brand, you become so familiar with your own product that you forget what someone seeing it for the first time might wonder.

Talking directly with lash artists gave us new ideas for education, demonstrations, content, and even future product development.

It reinforced something we have always believed:

The best products come from listening to the artists who actually use them.

If you didn't get to see them in person, you can shop Velo Fans here.

The other thing people kept picking up was our Ultra Real Lash Practice Eyelids. The lashes on them look and behave like natural lashes, so practice feels a lot closer to working on a real client. You can see the Ultra Real Eyelids here.

We Learned That People Matter More Than the Booth

Of course we wanted the booth to look good.

We wanted the displays to be beautiful.

We wanted the products organized.

We wanted everything to feel like Mega Lash.

But once the doors opened, none of that mattered nearly as much as the conversations happening inside it.

We met brand owners.

Educators.

New lash artists.

Artists who have been lashing for more than a decade.

People building salon teams.

People working alone from home.

People who had traveled across the country to be there.

Everyone had a different story.

And yet almost every conversation reminded us how similar the challenges of running a lash business really are.

Finding clients.

Keeping clients.

Improving your work.

Staying inspired.

Managing money.

Creating content.

Learning new techniques.

Trying to stand out in an industry that is constantly changing.

Those conversations reminded us why Mega Lash exists in the first place.

We are not simply selling lash products.

We are building tools for people who are building businesses of their own.

LASHCON Was Also a Huge Reminder That This Industry Is Evolving

One thing became very obvious walking around LASHCON:

The lash industry continues to evolve incredibly fast.

Techniques are changing.

Products are changing.

Education is changing.

Clients are changing.

And lash artists are becoming smarter about what they buy and why they buy it.

Artists want products that make their work easier.

They want better retention.

Faster application.

Better ergonomics.

Better education.

And they are asking more questions than ever.

We think that is a good thing.

It pushes brands like us to keep improving instead of simply releasing another version of something that already exists.

Seeing so many creative products, educators, and businesses in one place left us incredibly inspired about what is possible next.

It Was Hard. Really Hard.

We also don't want to romanticize it.

Doing an event like LASHCON is hard.

There were long days.

Heavy boxes.

Last-minute changes.

Things that didn't go exactly according to plan.

Moments when we were tired and still had ten more things to do.

And after months of preparation, the actual event goes by incredibly fast.

That is one of the strangest parts.

You spend months preparing something that disappears in a weekend.

But that is also what makes it special.

For a few days, thousands of people who care about the same industry are all standing in the same place.

Learning.

Sharing.

Shopping.

Connecting.

Supporting each other.

That energy is difficult to describe unless you experience it yourself.

The Biggest Lesson We're Bringing Home

There were a lot of business lessons.

We already have notes about what we would change about our booth.

What we would pack differently.

What we would bring more of.

What we would bring less of.

How we would organize certain things.

How we could make the experience smoother next time.

But our biggest takeaway wasn't logistical.

It was much simpler.

Show up.

It is easy to build a business behind a computer.

It is easy to post products online and watch orders come through.

But there is something powerful about stepping out from behind the brand and meeting the community you are building it for.

Those conversations matter.

Those relationships matter.

And sometimes one weekend can give you enough inspiration for the next year of your business.

Thank You, LASHCON

To everyone who stopped by Booth 211, thank you.

If you bought something, thank you.

If you tried Velo Fans, thank you.

If you had your tweezer engraved, thank you.

If you entered our giveaway, watched a demo, asked us a question, took a photo, introduced yourself, or simply stopped to say hi, thank you.

And to the people who told us that you have supported Mega Lash for years, please know that those conversations stayed with us.

To the LASHCON team, thank you for building a space where this industry can actually meet each other.

Mega Lash Academy is still a very small business.

There are only a few hands behind everything you see.

Every product launch.

Every order.

Every email.

Every piece of content.

Every event.

And that is probably why this experience meant so much to us.

Five years ago, we were simply trying to build something that could make lash artists' jobs a little easier.

This year, we got to stand inside LASHCON and meet so many of the artists we built it for.

That is something we will never take for granted.

We left LASHCON tired.

Very tired.

But we also left with new friendships, new ideas, new motivation, and an even clearer vision for where we want Mega Lash to go next.

So yes, LASHCON was a lot of work.

But would we do it again?

Absolutely.

And next time, we'll be coming back with everything we learned from this one.

Thank you for being part of the Mega Lash journey.
